Don't Look Now, Our Debt Just Increased by $1.9 Trillion
House Democrats have set the stage today to increase our national debt limit by $1.9 trillion, only they don’t want to admit they’ve actually voted to do it.  Through the rule, the Democratic Majority Leadership has constructed an elaborate scheme to shield their members from a direct vote on actually increasing the debt limit with a vote on mere gestures at “fiscal responsibility”.

Senate amendment to H.J. Res. 45 – Increasing the statutory limit on the public debt
Closed rule concurring in the Senate amendment that shields Democrats from directly voting on raising the debt $1.9 trillion  to $14.294 trillion, but allows a separate vote on making PAYGO statutory and eliminating duplicative and wasteful spending; and denies the minority a motion to recommit.
