Information Regarding Health Care Bills Posted by the Rules Committee

Dear Republican Colleague:

 This morning the Democratic leadership introduced their health care bills, H.R. 3962, the Affordable Health Care for America Act and H.R. 3961, the Medicare Physician Payment Reform Act of 2009, the text of which can be found on the Rules Committee Republican website here. These bills could be considered on the House floor as early as next week.  

The Rules Committee has not announced an amendment deadline, and we do not expect the Democratic Majority to report a rule providing for any kind of amendment process except possibly an alternative offered by the Republican Leadership.  

Currently, we expect the Rules Committee to meet sometime next week to report a rule providing for consideration of these bills. Please check our website often or contact the Republican staff of the Rules Committee at x5-9191 for the latest updates on these bills.
